StarLab Users Guide                                    Starlab Video

What is STARLAB?   STARLAB is the first truly portable planetarium. It was created by Phillip Sadler and his class of middle school students in Lincoln, Massachusetts in 1977.

Anyone who steps into a STARLAB dome is immediately drawn into the wonderful, magical world of astronomy - from novices to experts, kindergarteners  - grandparents,  students -  teachers everyone is drawn to the skies and the secrets of the universe that are waiting there to be discovered.

A STARLAB kit is comprised of a dome (16’ by 11’ - big enough for an entire class and their teacher), a fan for inflation, a projector and cylinders for various programs. Set up time is approximately 10 minutes. The dome fits into its own duffle bag accompanied by 3 small cases and is easily operated by a single classroom teacher. It can be used by students of all ages from primary school to Advanced Placement Science. It can be used to teach astronomy, biology, mythology, weather, currents, bird migrations, Social Studies, creative writing, music, art or anything that requires some imagination.

Two STARLAB trainings for Basic & Advanced STARLAB use are held each year. Watch the EMTC website for training announcements. Only STARLAB certified teachers can borrow STARLAB.  STARLAB can not be ordered online.  Please call 609 265-5053 to schedule STARLAB and to order.
