 Earth Science

    Weather

Global projection of earth with longitude and latitude lines. Depicts air circulation patterns, jet streams and pressure systems

     Ocean Currents

Shows both warm and cold currents in world’s oceans.  Study weather patterns, El Nino, influence of currents on exploration, discovery, trade, whaling and pollution

     Plate Tectonics

Based on the work of Dr. Paul D. Lowman (continental drift), shows plate boundaries, active ridges, faults, slip lines, spreading centers and volcanic activity over the past 1 million years. Clearly shows Pacific Ring of Fire.

     The Earth

Earth features are unfolded around the StarLab dome.  Includes longitude and latitude lines, polar circles and tropic lines.

     Bird Migration

Features the general migration routes of 14 specific birds species as well as an overview of several different types of typical migrations. In addition, the cylinder features prevailing winds, mountains ranges, and magnetic poles that help students to understand the ways birds use these naturally occurring phenomena, ans the location of already established bird communities to assist (or hinder) them in reaching their final destination.
